Looking down on his creation God came up with a plan of salvation for us. A plan where we could all be saved from hell. God loves us so much, he went even further than the plan and called us the children of God. "How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!" (1 John 3:1 NIV).
It is great that God has helped us by giving us his saving grace and great mercy. He has also made us a part of his family by calling us his children. "I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty." (2 Corinthians 6:18 NIV).
If we are children of God and truly part of his family, shouldn't it show in our love for our "siblings"? We will change and continue to change as we become more like our brother Jesus. God has enough church boys and girls! He doesn't need us hanging around the church all dressed up in our best clothes acting all nice. He needs us to help him build his kingdom out on the mission field. The only way we can do that is to become more like his son, Jesus.
Being one of the kings men, we should strive to be more like him. BUT, our Sovereign Lord will never force any of us to be like the King of Kings. If you don't want to be one of the king's men, you certainly don't have to be. That is exactly what hell is for. Hell is a place for those who don't want to be like Jesus.
God's holy word tells us, "Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God." (John 1:12-13 NIV).
Membership into God's family is by grace alone. That is the only way as it is a gift from God. It is not something you can earn, however, it is something you have to accept. If you haven't already, accept God's ever so sweet gift today. Be born of God and join his family as a child of God.
